both of your games, Project Kat and Paper Lily are detected as Malware (TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen) by Avira, F-Secure and Gridinsoft. Maybe those are false positive but you should correct it anyway, especially since the named antivirus companys doesn't have many false positives on VirusTotal...
People like me might be extra cautious and wait for them to be fixed before playing.
I think that is because they probably don't have a licence, but it should be safe. After all I played this game on multiple devices and they all seem to be working fine
Probably. But you'll never know for sure until you risk it - I neither want to accuse anyone nor spread false information. But not every malware begin its evil work as soon they got executed and often the devs aren't the culprit, imagine security hole in the game's engine or man-in-the-middle-attacks. But yes, some damn antivirus seem to flag nearly every binary as somewhat generic harm when they aren't certified with trusted root provider.
Well it should be safe, since it's made in Godot engine which doesn't allow the scripts to interfere with anything outside of the game files, and I also ran it through ESET and it didn't detect any danger

XD. I got through the game, I want to say it's great, I'm looking forward to the release of the game to replay it for other endings. It's quite challenging in some places, but I don't think that's a bad thing, it adds variety to the game. But where I had problems was the input lag at the end of the game with the battle with
Miss Knives
, the character just moves with a delay on the tiles, if that's the intent, I think it's a bad decision because there's a point there that's just impossible to pass with that delay, you 100% take damage, no matter how fast you click, the character moves through 1 tile in 0.5 seconds (approximately). I spent about 25 minutes on it and didn't pass because I decided to plug in the keyboard to see if there was such a delay, and when I plugged it in, the battle with the boss at that point was lost, I accidentally clicked skip XD. Played on Steam Deck, os ver. 3.4.8 (last stable update on 23.06.2023), game build "Paper Lily Demo v1.0.4-LINUX"

I LOVE THISSS GAME AND EVEN STREAMED IT but it did take me a while to figure out what to do. I got stuck on the fuse puzzle repeatedly and had to search up a walkthrough to get the other fuse (secret 20 fuse). I got through it in the end and I'm excited to see what chapter 2 will bring to this small community. Thank you for creating this game. <3
Above and beyond improvement over Project Kat, imo. A short experience that is worth paying for offered as a peek of things to come. Lacie is a likable and interesting protagonist that feels like a deeper followup upon Kat from the prologue. She's got a lot of rough edges but, she does not feel overexaggerated or mean spirited. Her quips and general social ineptitude are both relatable and entertaining. Her limited meta humor also adds another entertaining layer to her character. I love the mood that the game has going on, with an overarching sense of wonder and sprinkles of horror throughout. The tracks greatly contributed to this sense. Both the combat and puzzles were wonderfully balanced, presenting just the right amount of difficulty to keep me engaged. Despite the many paths, each was fairly distinctive and short enough to avoid confusion while backtracking. The spike minigame, painting chase, and Miss Knives fights were genuinely entertaining and way above my expectations for an adventure game like this. The addition of a skip button after multiple fails is also nice for those who want to play this as more of a visual novel. The art style is quite unique and each character has a great deal of personality in their portraits, humanoid or otherwise. Saki is charming and I appreciate not too much emphasis being placed on his presence. The callback to Kat towards the end was nice and I look forward to seeing more of her, even in this reduced form.
I have a few minor critiques, however. I was a bit stumped on the water color puzzle as I found the the hint of finding something to "carry" to be a leap in logic considering what was actually required to solve the puzzle. Also I noticed a minor typo when touching the paintings, where the text said "scrap" in a context where "scrape" would better fit. I feel the primal demons' presence was a bit awkward outside of the required maze. I would be exploring and just randomly run into one then load back in to just walk past that now unoccupied spot. I did appreciate that I was not harshly punished for this, but as they stand, the primal demons are a minor inconvenience at best. Their appearance feels arbitrary and there is no real incentive to avoid them as these appearances are sporadic and I can simply load back into the same spot without punishment. The maze was nice, but hearing the beast stepping closer and additional visual queues would make it a lot more gripping. Miss Knives' lack of presence during the illusion exploration sequence felt like a missed opportunity. It would've been pretty intense to see her patrolling areas around the house. It might be annoying to traverse if she had free rein over the area, but even restricting her to a section still would've been a nice change of pace.
It would be a shame to see the Paper Lily games end with these two entries, but I genuinely believe Chapter 1 is strong enough to be enjoyed as a paid short standalone experience (although I appreciate your generosity in making both free). Overall, this demo was exceedingly polished and a welcome surprise coming from Project Kat. I hope this feedback is somewhat useful and look forward to seeing this series continue, however long it takes. It may be an ask, but I would love to give feedback on any proposed changes or further developments.
Just only chapter 1 is very amazing! I really love the system that you've created in this game like changing sign, talking with NPC several times, or do the opposite thing but the good result happens. Also the gameplay that you put on that we fight with Ms.Knives. The artwork is also very lovely!!! I REALLY LIKE THE ARTWORK. It had to take a lot of time to design the background and the charactor. It's unique and soft. I really love every charactor in this game.
For me, I could say that I can play this game every day because I really love to explore every single places and stuff in the game. And Paper Lilly gave me a lot of surprising when I searched something unnecessary. I love how I can't guess what it's going on after I click this-.
Can't wait to play other chapters! I will support you as much as I can. I appreciated all the team members who contributing this wonderful game.
ps. I'm sorry if I used some abnormal word, I'm not good at English.
chap 1 was amazing! i loved it! i want to play rest of the game already ;-; i cant support the kickstar but i hope commenting atleast does some good because this game deserves it!!
Although one way to support the dev would be by paying for the game, I would feel like it would be best to hold off for buying Chapter 2 and so on unless you really want to support them.
I'm only halfway through (I think?) the game - I just got to the two moths in the tent - and I'm aiming for a 100% completion. I'm definitely not going to make it on my first playthrough, but that's not important.
I just wanted to make sure I'm on the right track, because I do recall leaving some things behind and I'm unsure about some other stuff.
Should I have kept the blue light for myself instead of giving it to the prisoner in Red's treehouse? Maybe by doing the whole monster maze so I wouldn't lose it.
Is Kozmo still going to be alive when I get back to him? I couldn't find him a head, not the jar nor the lamp from the lamppost worked... :(
What about the number you get from the train station? Couldn't quite manage to find a use for it.
Should I have saved up my coins to get 20 to buy a ticket home? I currently have 2.
I refused to pick up the red items found in Lacie's dreams. Both of them. Did I screw up badly? I can't really backtrack for those lol
HOW DO I DEAL WITH THE GOLDFISH
Is it good if I've given both the bunny and the caterpillar to the mysterious shadow girl you can access to via doorknob 3?
Edit: and what about the burrow hole?
Thanks in advance. I feel like I can't enjoy the rest of the game to the fullest if these matters keep popping back up to my mind.
About the blue light, there’s 2 ways to play the game - go through the maze or help the prisoner that will help you continue without ever going through the maze - if you chose to help the prisoner then you have to give him the blue light (which isn’t used for anything else) so you really didn’t lose or gain anything useful
And if you get stuck or don’t know which way to go, then I recommend checking out Winger785’s guide
Also, keep in mind that you can only play demo at the moment, so there's no use for some items (like fish, ticket number and some more). Also, some functions are not implemented in the current version, including at least 10 endings, so you can't basically 100% the game yet
Although I haven’t tested it yet, I heard that the Fish is one of the several items that can be given to the Shadow Girl.
The Ticket from the Train Station and the Bucket at the Lab/Prison is the only two item I found that isn’t useable or isn’t an extra item for another choice.
Hi, sorry, I'm having problems downloading the game. I installed it yesterday and have been playing for several hours. The problem is that when I closed the game, I closed it by closing only the bottom tab. And today, when I searched for the game it was gone. So I thought about downloading it again, but this time it's asking me to accept some permissions that even if I accept them, it won't continue downloading. Help :'(
I thought I would leave this to the devs but since they aren’t responding I’ll just do what I can to help. First of all: Are you playing on a Windows computer? If you are I might be able to help
First thing to try: Click on the search bar in the bottom tab and just search up Paper Lily. This is because you could’ve accidentally downloaded it into the wrong folder
Second thing to try is to use a different browser. I recommend Opera or Firefox.
Third thing to try is to the check what version you are downloading. For example a 32-Bit computer runs 32-Bit apps, but a 64-Bit computer runs both 32 and 64-Bit apps(in this case the version named Paper Lily Demo v1.0.4-WINDOWS without the 32BIT) So if you’re not sure what version to download just download the 32-Bit one.
If that doesn’t help then please send what the permissions ask
And also, for the future, it is not the smartest choice to close games from the bottom tab, instead press Esc(for most games), and there click Exit or Quit
Hello, thank you very much for trying to help me! You're very nice. So far I can't get it. One very important thing I forgot to mention in the first comment is that I have no problems downloading the game in general. But in extracting it. Normally I usually extract all the game files to be able to play the game, but I get "access to destination folder denied" and that I need some permissions. That's on the 64bit version, because on the 32bit version it tells me the game cannot be downloaded due to problems of not having passed the virus barrier.
Are you using a computer with multiple user accounts? If so, then it could be set to extract to another person account which is not possible if you don’t have their password. If you see a box with something along the lines of “Extract to:” or “Destination:” then set it to C:/Users/[replace this bracket with your account name]/Downloads
This should extract it to the folder were you’d usually find downloaded stuff
This is one of the best indie games I have ever played i cannot wait to see more from these developers
A lengthy demo at least from how I played but I can assure you this game is an absolute MUST!!!
The artstyle is one of my favourite, the story deep and moving in certain places, challenges were tough but doable to put it simply while I play a lot of games and speak mostly positively about them
Hello! I have posted here quite a time ago that I have a big problem in this game - I absolutely cannot run away from the girl in the portrait. She always catches me and the game is over, and there is no option in the game to skip that part (like some earlier arcade-like parts can be skipped). I really, really want to finish this game but that part is preventing me from it and is an absolute blocker for me. Is it possible that I send to someone my save game file right before the chase part, and then someone could pass that scene for me? Then please re-save the game (preferably in the same place where my original save was) and send it back to me? if anybody is willing to do me that favor, please reply and provide some e-mail address where I can send the file... Thanks in advance! PS. Does anybody know if the save file format differs in different platform versions? I'm using Linux and don't know if the save file from the Linux versions can be read for example by Windows version or vice versa...
Try running diagonally, I mean that, try to press two direction keys instead of one. And find the shortest way. I can't too at first, but I use this way to pass it. Good luck! (you press shift, right? )
For the painting chase, the best tip would be to keep running to the left as much as possible and be sure to move diagonally instead of turning a hard corner. Other than accidentally running into walls which caused the painting lady to catch up to me, I don't think I've been out chased by the painting.
Is it weird that I much preferred this game to undertale?
The art was pretty unreal for this type of game, a really interesting plot, fun and interesting characters, the puzzles were decent (although a little easy at times), combat wasn't too unnecessarily difficult, and it was just overall a great experience.
Only things I'd add are more endings (which you seem to have covered), and maybe a way to delete or rename saves (as with project kat, having so many saves and no way to manage them was really annoying) but thats only a minor issue.
Anyways, keep up the amazing work ^^ I can't wait for the next chapter!
I personally don’t think it’s weird, but that’s probably because it’s the same for me. I like PL more mainly because of the less “bland” art style, the fact that Lacie actually talks (instead of the almost mute Frisk), and because PL generally seems more modern
The same thing happens to me but unlike Paper Lily Undertale has more routes to follow, personally the one I like the most is the genocidal route since you experience a feeling of loneliness when you kill all the characters with whom you kindly interacted with they.
However, this is chapter 1 of the game and honestly, I really liked it. The fact that it mixes mystery with horror and some funny parts reminds me a bit of a pocket mirror.
Sorry if my comment was not understood, I am using the goolge translator xD
I don’t think so. This is the roadmap from Update #1:
Finish fixing all critical bugs in Chapter 1
Supporter Package DLC for Project Kat
Add remaining features in, and release Chapter 1 on Steam
Kickstarter Merch Run
Chapter 2
So far only 2 out of 5 steps are done with no information on when v1.1(Steam version) will release. Sorry to ruin your excitement but I prefer being a realist (no offence ofc)
The first version on Steam will be v1.1, but as you can see, it’s not out yet. The reason it’s taking so long is because v1.1 will have many more features than the current version, including 30 save slots (instead of the current 3), achievement for the steam version, likely more soundtrack, and new endings (9 if I remember correctly)
I'm downloading it right after I played project kat, where's kat in this images? did she died or something? I guess I'll only find out by playing this game, great work by the way
I absolutely love this game. The story is amazing. The characters were well developed, and I loved the ending. I would give more detail about the ending, but I want to avoid spoiling it for others. I really love the small details added to the game Aswell. I'm excited to see what Lacie does in the next chapter and am honestly excited to see Hiros reaction to seeing Lacie alive.
Hello there, I played your game. I must say, it's one of the best rpgs I've played in terms of 2d, this type of genre. Please keep up the great work. Some puzzles were kind of obscure.
Also I did not use all the valves, I don't think it had an effect on the story? Oh, the knife part kinda pissed me off, I would not be stabbing myself or eat the bird, lowkey I'd stab the bullies in them dreams.
if you are and it still doesn’t work, then the next thing that comes to my mind is that you remember the wrong layout, so i’ll show it to you:
1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9
* 0 #
and you need to call 999281#0 or 99281#0 (I’m not sure which one)
If that doesn’t work, the last thing i can think of is that you’re entering the numbers on your keyboard, when you’re supposed to chose them by the arrow keys and confirming with enter
I absolutely adore this game! It's creepy and fun and has such a good story and art style. I'm super thankful for the skip options, especially toward the end of chp 1. My poor arthritic fingers could only try so many times before locking up lol. Definitely looking forward to whatever else you put out!
I love this game and I never really leave comments but I'm kind of stuck in the facility and I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar issue. I've read all the walkthroughs and I'm just unsure of what to do.
So I need the 20 fuse, its on the other side of the gate in the medical room. I know that the key is on that book shelf in the room with all of the boxes but whenever I go to the bookshelf it just says there's empty books. I've looked everywhere else in the facility and its not there either. Has anyone else encountered this issue, or does the key maybe appear in different locations? Anything helps, thanks!
Thank you! I eventually found it, I think something was just weird with my computer because when I restarted my computer and re-opened the game I found it.
Hello! I just wanted to inform you, that if you play one game after the other (Project Kat and Paper Lily), their saves stack on each other. What I mean is that a save from one game will appear in the other, which confused me for a second. It's okay and it's not causing any problems, other than a need to overwrite one save from the previous game, so I guess it would be a problem fro someone who made many of them in the 1nd game, didnt finished it, and tried the 2nd one, but I also don't think it's quite as common to occure. Either way, I hope it helps you in any way. Also, I love both of the games, I just ended Project Kat and it genouinely spooked me like three times haha
I’m pretty sure this is intentional. I’m guessing when they release all chapters they will combine all of them into a single app, and if it was all saved in a different folder, it would make a mess which is one thing no game dev wants. (coming from a game dev) I could be wrong though
Yeah, sounds about right. Especially considering that Project Kat's true ending allows you to create a save slot for Paper Lily Chapter 1 which you can use to start the game
I have no money for playing the next chapter, and my steam account got hacked, so i won't be able to play the chapter 2. But, i'll be happy to watch a random guy playing the game art u created.
So you mean ManlyBadassHero. If so Manly isnt a random guy hes a Badass Hero. But ya he played project cat so im guessing hes going to play it at some point.
So, I was talking to some online friends about the game. And I've realized that, I'm not ready to die. It's the first time in years, four years to be exact, that I say that. It's the first time I feel like it's true. And I'm so thankful, the game helped me realize that I have so much left, that I have so many people who love me, and I feel so blessed. I'm literally crying right now, but I'm not sad. I'm actually happy.
The game ended up being a lifesaver to me, and this isn't my first comment, but even after I've played it over a month ago, I can't get it out of my head. That's how much impact it had on me, again, thank you so much.

This should extract it to the folder were you’d usually find downloaded stuff
i really really enjoyed playing this game !!
it was much more interesting than project kat and i'm thrilled to see how the two are tied together !
i loved how interactive everything is, bcs that's my favourite part in rpg games.
the story was very captivating and so were the characters.
overall had a wonderful time playing :)
This is one of the best indie games I have ever played i cannot wait to see more from these developers
A lengthy demo at least from how I played but I can assure you this game is an absolute MUST!!!
The artstyle is one of my favourite, the story deep and moving in certain places, challenges were tough but doable to put it simply while I play a lot of games and speak mostly positively about them
This is one of the highest by far
Really well done Leef cannot wait for Chapter 2
ahh,I almost become Lacie when I play PL1, you know, the potato chips always delicious, the plants always friendly. :3
of course, Lacie's clothes always soft.
realmente nos asen falta las traducciones a los demas idiomas como era en proyect kat
Love it
Relax, guys, they just want to make it more perfect.
Wait,I complete shocked when I found that PK have a update, I'm sure I'll pick up it again
OMG PLSS PLSSS PLSSSSSS MAKE CHAPTER 2 ITS SO SAD BROOO
(btw i beated it a long time ago, keep the progress up! <3 u frfr got the best art style i saw in games its prtty scary and cute ngl)
Chapter 1 is not even finished yet and you're already asking for 2.
I don’t think so. This is the roadmap from Update #1:
So far only 2 out of 5 steps are done with no information on when v1.1(Steam version) will release. Sorry to ruin your excitement but I prefer being a realist (no offence ofc)
aww man aight then maybe we will wait for 5 months :skull:
im predicting early 2024 if im being optimistic. games arent easy to make and are unreasonably annoying to fix bugs in
There is still at least 9+ other endings that isn't in Chapter 1 yet
I'm a huge fan of Project Kat so I'm SUPER excited for this to be finished!!! :>
Can you upload the first chapter to Steam as well?
The first version on Steam will be v1.1, but as you can see, it’s not out yet. The reason it’s taking so long is because v1.1 will have many more features than the current version, including 30 save slots (instead of the current 3), achievement for the steam version, likely more soundtrack, and new endings (9 if I remember correctly)
Cope
with what exactly?
Proof from Steam
I'm downloading it right after I played project kat, where's kat in this images? did she died or something? I guess I'll only find out by playing this game, great work by the way
indeed, she died
Well, there are multiple endings in Project Kat.
Some having Kat survive.
Project Kat have a 8 endings, in some, she survived, and we don't know which ending is canon
Its kinda funny how i chose "my bus is late" even tho i did not know that was the thing to do from the start.
You can stab the bullies if you take knife dont stab self walk to them open inventory and use the knife.
unfortunately you need to have the events play out as they originally did to gain the orbs
i want merch
this game is pretty good but the bus apparently changed its phone number or smth idk cuz it wont let me dial the number ?
idk i have tried to dial it so many times but it just beeps for a while as if i hadnt gotten it correctly
pls help ;-;
are you sure you’re calling it during the night?
if you are and it still doesn’t work, then the next thing that comes to my mind is that you remember the wrong layout, so i’ll show it to you:
1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9
* 0 #
and you need to call 999281#0 or 99281#0 (I’m not sure which one)
If that doesn’t work, the last thing i can think of is that you’re entering the numbers on your keyboard, when you’re supposed to chose them by the arrow keys and confirming with enter
ohh thanks i thought the layout was
9 8 7
6 5 4
3 2 1
* 0 #
or something like that idk
Even the ritual instruction hinted to remember the layout.
Also, what phone has the layout counting down from 9?
Have you tried following this guide? I myself tried it and I had no problems. One thing I do know, is that it always appears on the same location.
Or maybe you need to unscrew the vent (If you have a screwdriver)
This could be wrong though as I’m only writing this from memory
Thank you! I eventually found it, I think something was just weird with my computer because when I restarted my computer and re-opened the game I found it.
Here's the 2nd part
I didn't make much progress here but eventually I will
That was fun, but anyway, have a great day!!! <3
But, i'll be happy to watch a random guy playing the
gameart u created. So you mean ManlyBadassHero. If so Manly isnt a random guy hes a Badass Hero. But ya he played project cat so im guessing hes going to play it at some point.
Words cannot express how phenomenal this game is... And it's made by two people?! I can't wait for the next chapters! Amazing work!! :D
ITS GOOD is just that i cant feed the birds even though i have the food
Put the food in the bird feeder
go menu-item-bird food
tap while looking to the bird
ok thank you i will try that
So, I was talking to some online friends about the game.
Love this! Touching story, beautifully executed
I'm excited for the next chapter ^^
This is the BEST INDIE GAME i have played after years!
