this is like asking why there are no black or asian characters in slavonic mythology. if the devs didn't put in black characters in a game, it's not that the devs are racist by excluding minorities. it's because race has nothing to do with anything.
you would know the world is a better place when People starts casting black characters into a media because they want to instead of forcing them in just so the media can be "politically correct"
There are two options for Kozmo's head, as was said. As for the jar, you can use it instead of the lamp to collect fireflies with a bug net (give one rune to Rune to obtain it)
You probably got a bug, since the new head is the pot to the right of the hand-shaped pot in front of the house. Did you by chance knock on Kozmo's head before finishing their conversation?
bruh the fuses from the facility won't work idk why I checked with the walktrough too and they were corectly placed but the 55 always remains red and I can't load other slot either because I would lose half my progress (btw the game is soo good and i love the fact that now you can skip the hqrd minigames part but you should really do more than 3 saving slots)
i got stuck on that for a while too; most walkthroughs show some slots being empty in the elevator fuse panel. in v.1.0.4 (in patch notes in the READ ME.txt) [+ Fixed an issue that allowed the elevator fuses to work without filling all the slots.], they fixed it so you have to fill all the slots. in the bloody operating room that you and Sai enter to escape the primal shadow demon, there's a locked gate that requires a key that you can find in the facility. when you unlock the gate and go through, there will be a fuse numbered 20 that you can use to activate the elevator. you should be able to figure it out pretty easily there, and don't remove the fuse numbered 25 with the door icon (or at least save the game before you do). sorry if it's too late though
IT IS NOT THANK U VERY MUCH and i know i shouldnt remove the fuse with the number 25 i dont want another jumpscare lmao THANKS AGAIN THO but how do i update the game without losing my 6 hour progress i might cry if i lose it all
There is also another path that I found, where you can use the Star Valve on the Pentagon slot to drain the water. Took longer for me to figure that out in contrast to using the Square/Diamond Valve on the Diamond/Square slot.
Well, what kupofkupkake wanted to say is, the primal appears here and there anyway, but if you unlock the doors with the primals, they will just spawn much more often
To be completely honest I'm probably gonna play this awesome game over and over, Paper lily is beyond a great RPG Maker game I ever played, I love it so much^^
This game was so good! The art, the music, absolutely everything was so fun (even the times I died lmao). And Hiro is my fave lol he's so baby <3
There's one issue I found when playing, though. When you get to the forest after exiting the bus, the first pathway that you see a Daylight Gate sign doesn't pan upwards (so I can't get to it) and Lacie disappears off screen.
I have to go back down to the entrance and redo it for it to pan up properly.
Also, with the fuse box puzzle, not sure if it was because of the choices I made prior, but the elevator wouldn't work unless I turned off the cell block power to use the Fuse 25 piece (and the water level wouldn't change whether the fuse was in or not)
I just finished the game and it was amazing ! I played project kat a while ago and loving it so I was really exited to play paper lily. The characters are really nice and it's easy to get attached to them. The story line is amazing and the game design is really pretty. I was really scared at some point but it didn't stop me to finis this masterpiece ! I'm really hyped for the chapter 2 !!! If you guys hesitate I really recommend it !!!
I'm stuck at the elevator puzzle. I've watched a few walkthroughs but I can't seem to follow. Unlocking the elevator just doesn't seem to work. I'm not sure what to do, there's no where else to go.
I loved this game! Although the yellow eye lady was too difficult and the signs also at the start. Those are my only complaints!! I cant wait for chapter 2 to be out so we see what happens to Sai and Lacie.
ohhh for the golden eye lady u can actually obtain a golden eye somewhere else perhaps u should check the library but.....remember..... *there is always another way!!*
At first, the signs were confusing at first, but after understanding the pattern it starts to make sense. Personally, I feel like what would help is a map placed somewhere within the area that can also detect the direction that the signs are pointing while maybe also hinting at the location the signs would trigger, such as the 2 secret locations, daylight gate, and the train station.
[Minor spoilers for the game beyond this point!!! Read at your own discretion]
I finally completed the game after having it downloaded for oh so long. I have to say it perfectly exceeds all my expectations and I'm left with nothing but praises for what chapter 1 has to offer for players. It has all the mystery and allure project kat had with a story and plot that was unique and self-contained enough that you don't need to play project kat to follow along the while still sticking to the idea of "there's always another way" which rung true throughout, even in the most unexpected of times.
Every interaction felt like it had meaning, every dialogue every doorway or transition felt like it had purpose, weight and it all cumulated to an amazing ending.
The art and was as charming as ever and the characters were all intriguing each with their own unique characteristics that made them feel at home in such a strange and sometimes unsettling environment. Which speaking of, I also adore in its entirety.
The puzzles overall weren't too difficult, the ones that could be are able to be skipped which I am immensely thankful for because my inputs seemed super delayed which is likely a result of my laptop and not the game so I won't fault it there. (Although those damn signs can go to hell)
The ending left me with a ton of questions which i hope will be answered!
Honestly, I found the signs a bit funny. Very annoying at first, but once I understood the pattern it makes sense. It would've helped if there was a map for that area that detects the direction of the signs.
You can use this guide to get past the locked site through the basement in Red's treehouse. I'll not spoil what exactly you have to do, but I think you'll figure this out. Good luck with the walkthrough!
If it helps I didn't realize You actually had to interact with the bushes by pressing the button and was just standing in them (which doesn't work mind you)
You’re gonna hate the rest of the game then. However if you decide to continue, you can checl out this guide made by Winger785 (not me). And if you’re easily scared, go with the |Helping prisoner| instrad of |Forest Maze|. You’ll know what I mean when you read the guide(hopefully)
Should charge players 80 dollars plus DLC for Chapter 2. This and Project Kat are too amazing to be free. It feels almost illegal to play this for free. Unpopular opinion, I know.
Don’t know if you know anthing about marketing, but if they sold it for let’s say $15, it would likely earn them much more that of they sold it for $80. This is mainly because the higher the price, the less people will likely pay for it, especially when most people who play game likely aren’t in the best financial situation right now. But other than that, Yes, I still feel like it should be paid, however only from Ch2, since PK doesn’t give enough to decide if you want to buy the full game, which is mainly caused by Project Kat ending in less of a cliffhanger than Ch.1.
And thanks for reading such a long reply, I often have issues shortening explanations
Hello! I created an itch.io just so I could make a comment on here. I love Paper Lily Chapter 1! It was really wonderful and I've played through it about 3 times so far. I love puzzles and exploring and finding secret stuff so games like this are perfect for me. I came here because I played the Project Kat Prologue a long time ago and I had happened to redownloaded it and seen that a new Chapter had been released!
I am having a bit of an issue though. After playing Chapter 1, I had the three save slots filled up, each with a slightly different ending and I wanted to keep all of them. However, when I went to Project Kat (Steam Version) after playing Chapter 1, it completely overwrote my Chapter 1 (or I guess Chapter 2 since it was the ending save) saves in Slot 1 and 2. When I went to the app data save folder on my computer, the Slot 1 and 2 saves were completely gone and I've lost that progress forever.
In the future, would it be possible to separate the save slots for each chapter? I don't want to have to overwrite my progress every time. I saw someone mentioned that you can copy and paste the save data into your save folders, but that is a lot of hassle, seeing as every time you want to use that save file you would have to rename it to fit into one of the slots. Also, this solution didn't work for me because I hadn't realized opening Project Kat would erase the save files from Chapter 1 which had a combined total of 6+ hours. This is really the only concern that I have.
I absolutely adore these two games and I love so many aspects of the game that I could write a paper about it, but I would just be repeating a lot of what has already been said. Thank you for the wonderful game <3
Thank you, we're very happy you like it! As for the save slots, sorry for the trouble! The next update will have 30 save slots so this shouldn't be an issue in the future ^^
Soooo.. I discover the game with the OST. I was really curious so I download the game and...Wow... How beautiful ! Everything is amazing inside ! I really love all the details. The music, the characters, the story, the puzzles ! An awesome masterpiece. And it's only the demo ? My ! I really need the full game ! So, I will wait. Patiently !
Project Paper Lily, for a demo there's definitely still plenty to dive into here There's clear passion, thought and a lot of polish that went into make this demo feel like a cohesive and engaging experience.
The games art is great for what it is and is cohesive in its presentation, I really liked the character designs which really helped bring the characters to life. Some of areas such as the tree with the embedded mirror with particle lights floating were beautiful, and none really stood out as unfinished or out of place.
I really loved the soundtrack, it felt really rpg maker esq but still has its own unique character. I found myself immediately after listening to the ost and wanting to write piano arrangements of various standout pieces like Lacie's character theme and music box. The tracks and sound design were well used, with the absence of the ost at times really building tension and tracks during story sequences such as the one involving miss knives really elevating the whole sequence.
Also the whole bush hiding sequence with the trail leading to your guide's corpse was honestly really terrifying and built its atmosphere well, though it felt a bit too predictable with the same amount of time outside of the bush being allowed regardless of moving (besides running) slightly breaking the immersion of it.
While not seeing too much of the characters so far, I've still been able to feel a clear sense of direction in each one, each being likable in their own way. Also the dialogue in general is pretty well put together as far as I can tell.
The puzzles, while not revolutionary were fun and intuitive without feeling like an absolute cakewalk. Besides that it had some interesting gameplay elements. The whole spike/knife dodging fight thing was fun, but while it was initially presented pretty early on, it still feels like it was a little underdeveloped and more could of been done with it to make it more engaging or interesting.
My main gripe would honestly be the whole sewer/underground sequence, which felt a bit drawn out and confusing, maybe I'm just dumb though. I'm not sure if you're able to complete the game without taking out the power for the prisons door, but either way getting killed over and over while having to edge in and out of screen to respawn enemies to be able to get past felt pretty tedious.
After playing this game once I still feel like I've only scratched the surface of the demo alone. I can see clear inspirations taken from its predecessors such as pocket mirror, ib, yumme nikki/omori and others, but the game still very much has a unique identity of its own. Its got a good mix or quirkyness and charm, but can also be downright terrifying. I'm excited to see where you bring this game in future. Although tbf I was high on shrooms the entire time so probably skewed my perception of it a bit but still I enjoyed it a lot lol.

no black characters?
no bitches?
unfortunately it ain’t that kinda game
this is like asking why there are no black or asian characters in slavonic mythology. if the devs didn't put in black characters in a game, it's not that the devs are racist by excluding minorities. it's because race has nothing to do with anything.
you would know the world is a better place when People starts casting black characters into a media because they want to instead of forcing them in just so the media can be "politically correct"
the key's are confusing on where it suppost to go (hope they will update that)
this game is sooo good!! with the horros but still cute graphics I LOVE IT <3
This game is so fun I loved the story, the art, and the game play keep up the amazing work!
I played project kat and i loved the game a lot, then i saw this and i had to play it and i loved it. Can't wait for chapter 2
Hey does anybody know where to find a new head for kozmo or is it an unfinished event?
Also has anybody found a use for the jar or ticket?
On the left side of the artist's house entrance or in Red's house.
I already tried interacting with the rock inside reds house and the pots next to artists house, but didn’t do anything.
Nice reference to Mix Ore (Maybe)....
I had already played project kat, and finished playing this one right now.
Loved the story! The most tricky part was the maze at miss knives home, but with the help of my friend youtube, I got through.
Can't wait till Chapter 2!!!
bruh the fuses from the facility won't work idk why I checked with the walktrough too and they were corectly placed but the 55 always remains red and I can't load other slot either because I would lose half my progress (btw the game is soo good and i love the fact that now you can skip the hqrd minigames part but you should really do more than 3 saving slots)
There'll be like 30 saving slots in the steam release, so rest assured
You need to fill all 4 slots while also adding up to 55. The devs have mentioned adding more save slots in the future.
i tried all possible combinations but none worked. what worked for you? maybe i skipped the right one
i got stuck on that for a while too; most walkthroughs show some slots being empty in the elevator fuse panel. in v.1.0.4 (in patch notes in the READ ME.txt) [+ Fixed an issue that allowed the elevator fuses to work without filling all the slots.], they fixed it so you have to fill all the slots. in the bloody operating room that you and Sai enter to escape the primal shadow demon, there's a locked gate that requires a key that you can find in the facility. when you unlock the gate and go through, there will be a fuse numbered 20 that you can use to activate the elevator. you should be able to figure it out pretty easily there, and don't remove the fuse numbered 25 with the door icon (or at least save the game before you do). sorry if it's too late though

Took longer for me to figure that out in contrast to using the Square/Diamond Valve on the Diamond/Square slot.
I'm enjoying the game so far. I should probably go back and play Project Kat
Loved the game and I would love to see how the next chapter is like, and by so far the best RPG game I have played. So keep up the good work.
The facility primal is gonna appear in some rooms regardless what you did or how long you've stayed, it's intended.
Well, what kupofkupkake wanted to say is, the primal appears here and there anyway, but if you unlock the doors with the primals, they will just spawn much more often
Nice game :)
Can't wait to see chapter 2 one day^^
The best part about this game is BROKENPASTEL aka THE DJMAX god actually assisted with the Korean translation. GOAT game, best game.
This game was so good! The art, the music, absolutely everything was so fun (even the times I died lmao). And Hiro is my fave lol he's so baby <3

Okay, I think the fuse box was because of prior choices bc this time i was able to do the elevators without touching the lights lmao
Also found out how to work the valves for the water (so I needed those AND the fuse)
Side note: I love that there's different paths to take to get to a single destination! Choices really do matter 👀
I just finished the game and it was amazing ! I played project kat a while ago and loving it so I was really exited to play paper lily. I guess I didn't know anything about fuses. I tried a different combination using math and it worked. Yay
I just finished this game and I really loved it!
This game was incredible! I can't wait for more
the game crashes so much
Hi! Can you give us your computer specs so we can see what the problem might be?
This is beautiful! Thank you so much!
Would you be ok with us posting this on Twitter with a link to your YouTube channel? :)
Yea, but the painting lady encounter is still forced due to it protecting the item in the cage.

I'm way too emotionally invested to quit now so I'll do my best to pull through, thank you!
will a steam release come anytime soon?(since in the steam page of the game it says coming soon which *usually* translates to "haha no")
For what it's worth, steam has forced any page without a set release date to now say "coming soon".

You don't really have to shorten the explanation.
Agreed.
I cant get the cursed tree bark or the ink mushrooms in reds house even after visiting Kett :((

Arts and OST are fantastic. Can't with for the 2nd part
cool ost, cool characters, cool plot, cool game
just curious are you a filipino? Like I can assume by the accent :D. Nice vid btw 👍✨
been thinking of making a let's play of this too
eyy mabuhay! Haha
