Wow, how organized and well ordered!

It's almost like you copy pasted from an unofficial full game guide Someone wrote up.

Have fun and enjoy playing friends!

(+1)

i got it from your guide it really helped me

You can't find the pentagon, but there are alternatives. Keep trying.

ok everything, but how do you feed the birds :(

(+1)

just get bird food and stand near the bird house then go to inv and use bird food

(1 edit)

You can save the game by interacting with crows ^^

Idk if it's just me but when I open the game (windows version) I can't press the new game button, my mouse disappears, and none of my keys do anything, arrow keys, wasd, etc, I even tried touch screen, I was wondering if anyone knew how to fix this. Thank you 🙏

Please try deleting the engine.cfg and bindings.json files in order to reset your keybindings. The files are located in %APPDATA%\Paper Lily

I tried both uninstalling and looking for the files but I cant find them, when I open the folder all I see is these and nothing comes up when I search for engine, bindings, or app data, I looked through all the files too and can't find anything

I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling

w game

AAAAA im so happy !!!!! Ive been waiting for another game by the creators of Project Kat to come out for so long !!! its like a dream come true °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°

(+2)

the character design is so cute

(+3)

I must say, i don't fall in love with an indie game like this in a while.

Will be happily waiting for the next chapter! Simply loved the game!

Thank you! Happy to hear that :)

Hello,

I streamed your game this past weekend. Overall, I actually think this is a rather well made game (I'm sure you know that, but that was a rather pleasant breath of fresh air for me.)

The game is certainly not my kind of game, and feels a little too "Doomer" for me. There is a strange disconnect between everyone in the cafe saying "Ewh, what's with that weird girl?" when the art for the girl is this cute, aesthetically pleasing design common to anime. I suppose you need to be able to suspend your disbelief, but for me it was just a little too far for me to believe it. I feel like being mindful of the character's design should be important for this kind of game - and not just about making a pretty waifu for weebs to drool over.

As far as the game design goes, it seems effective at what it's trying to do. There are some pretty minor nitpicks that would certainly help the game feel more polished. For example, it's never really made clear that you need to interact with items from the menu when standing near something (for example, you need to stand near the bird house in order to use the bird feed.) It sort of feels clunky: I know what the answer is, I have the bird feed, why not just use the bird feed automatically upon activating the bird house? On that note, if items must be used from the inventory, isn't it a little bit slow having to open the character menu, navigate to the inventory, then navigate to the item you want to use? It might be beneficial to either A) have an on screen inventory (like many classic point-and-click games) that allows users to click and drag inventory items onto the things they want to interact with, or B) just have a hotkey that brings the player straight to the inventory screen, reducing the number of menu screens by 1 (which is small, but goes a long way).
Finally is the "To-Do List" is kind of awkward to access and is a byproduct of the aforementioned inventory system. It's weird you have a dedicated menu for "objectives" but the to-do list is not shown there nor can be accessed from there. Instead the player must access the to-do list from their inventory via the notebook, which took me longer than I would like to admit to figure out because when I selected any item from the menu nothing happened, which made me think that I don't interact with items from the inventory. To avoid this, having a tutorial about how you use items would help (I know people are overly adverse to games being overly tutorialized, which is why I always recommend folks add a toggle switch in their options menu to enable/disable tutorials). Additionally, having a simple message pop up saying "I can't use this right now" when trying to use something from the inventory would help inform players.

There are lots of things I would like to commend with this game: The art (pixel art and CG art) look great, the music sounds good, and the writing (though not my cup of tea and often is a little to on-the-nose) is well done. Additionally, there is some cut animations and interactions that help make the world feel alive. Very nice touches.

One question before ending this review: I found this because it was tagged as RPG Maker, but it's clearly not RM. I'm curious why you tagged it as so? Is there hidden lore there?

If you'd like to watch my experience with your game, I've linked the archive below. You can click the timestamps to jump to when I start playing your game.

This is explained in the game. Most people are repelled by her because of her curse, that's the reason she draws scorn from others, not because of her appearance or mannerisms. As far as I know there's nothing else meant to be wrong with her.

(+1)

Part 2 of my blind playthrough is out now! Come check it out!

Also, be sure to check out this full game guide I worked on!
(+1)

Just finished the game today, it was great! Really fun and engaging :)
Both art and music were amazing as well.

Can't wait for Chapter 2!  Keep up the good work 🍻!

(+1)
I loved the game but to be honest, being a game that follows a story, it should have translations for other languages, so my question is, is there any way that the community can make a translation of the game?
(+1)

Well, it was stated in the first devlog that translations will be discussed in the next devlog, so we wait. As a translator myself, I hope they do the same thing they did with Project Kat and let everyone translate their game with some instructions

(+1)

Just finished the game, and all I have to say is that was great! The art and visuals were pretty, and the ending left me with questions. Looking forward to future chapters!

(+1)

Super underrated too, I hope it gets more attention in the future.

(+1)

Thank you! We're glad you enjoyed it! :)

Fantastic work! Project Kat was already great but this improves on the story, gameplay and lore tenfold. Super excited about future chapters and I'm curious to see if Lacie comes back or if we get a new character doing the ritual each chapter.

LOREEEEEEEEEEEE!

this game is great so far, but i just want to ask, is there a way to open the locked doors in the facility? i managed to open the iron ones, but is there also a key for the other locked doors?

Idk if theres a glitch but I can’t open the elevator once I get the fuses right like I put 15 and 40 but 55 is not turning green.

You need to fill all 4 slots and have it at 55 to get the elevator working.

(1 edit)

No, they're right. There's a glitch where the breaker never turns to 55. Maybe replaying the game fixes it, although, I doubt they want to do that, lol.

We haven't heard of this issue before, could you share a screenshot of the 4 filled slots?
This will help us debug it, thanks! ^^

(1 edit) (+2)

I had played Project Kat long time ago too, both games are incredible. I enjoy them not only as a player, but as an aspirant to game developer too, the devlog is very inspiring.

Extra: this print is a beautiful wallpaper.

(+3)

i play the game i didnt finish it yet but i like it
i play it on linux and so far linux version work very well

(+1)

I haven’t actually finished the game, but i so far i have enjoyed the puzzles and the art. The story is quite relatable. Also thanks, for making this game compatible with Linux distros out-of-the-box.

(+1)

really hope this chapter and future ones stay free cause im broke.

(+1)

Feeling bad to disappoint you, but future chapters are surely not going to be free (it's official), but it's just fair

I figured that but I still hoped.

Can't open it on Mac. (MacOS Big Sur 11.7.3, MacBook Pro Retina 13-inch Late 2013, 2.8 Ghz Dual-Core Intel core i7, Intel Iris 1536 MB).

MacOS blocks some things from running for "security" reasons
If you hold down CTRL and right click on the file, then select "Open" it should give you a different prompt which lets you run it.

(2 edits)

Tried that. Doesn't work. Rather than mentioning security issues MacOS warns about the app being "damaged", therefore can't be opened.

Did you ever signed the app?

You can follow the steps in this video or use the itch app!
Sadly this issue will never go away because our game isn't signed and notarized and Apple really doesn't like that :)

That solved it.

(4 edits)

Try downloading the itch desktop app (https://itch.io/app) and launching the game through there. I'm on a Mac and it almost always works for me!

(+3)

I loved this game so much and I fucking adore it to death! I simply can't wait for Chapter 2 to come out, not to mention the steam release of this chapter!
The character interactions, the music, the story and lore are all so amazing, I wish I could reward everyone who worked on this game properly!

I also may have lowkey gotten obsessed with the game and wrote a full game guide to help anyone who's lost or confused.
Be Wary of Puzzle Solution Spoilers if you use it!

I'm quite frankly in love and amazed at how well designed this game is!
I binge recorded my (mostly) blind playthrough of the entire chapter in a day, but it will take some time for the episodes to release.

Like I said in my survey report, I loved the game but I think fast travel to cleared areas or finding safe ways back would be a spectacular addition.

I also wanna brag that while writing the guide and replaying the ending sequence, I did it hitless!

(+1)

Broooo, that's so underrated, only thanks to you I've found out I missed so many opportunities in the game, thanks a lot, devs should totally notice it!

Ayo, thanks so much! It's my pleasure to help out! It was really fun replaying to write the guide and testing all sorts of stuff out!

Fingers crossed the devs notice, but in the meantime, I always appreciate people subbing to my channel!

(+1)

You've got yourself a subsriber, keep up the good work!

(+1)

Hey, we're happy you enjoyed the game! ^^
Writing that guide must have taken a lot of effort and time, that's amazing!
We're still going through all of the survey responses, but we'll definitely take note of your comment :)
Also good job on the ending sequence

Amazing guide, though hate to nitpick, there are some missing information that I may be able to help you with.
Also if you haven't joined our fan discord server, please do.
I would love to have another completionist  join the club.

Spoiler:

There are 17 coins.

Also the code for the first door in the blue candle quest is different for everyone.

Ooh? Well, I'd certainly love to find out those locations and thanks for the heads up about the blue candle quest door.
Please link me to this fan server and let's see what else there is to find together!

(+1)

when it will come to steam?

(+1)

We prefer not to give a specific release date yet, but we're currently working on all of the needed changes to bring it to Steam asap! We'll post on our twitter as soon as we have a date :)

(+1)

was so good! loved hiro and lacie's cute first interaction!

this was AMAZING. it left me wanting to play more im so excited for the next chapter!! well done <3 10/10

(+2)

When I get to the forest, how do I figure out which signs point where?

(+2)

Make all the signs of a particular kind point towards each other until their location is revealed.

The final Daylight gate sign not being rotatable means make them all point towards it and the path will appear.

If you want a walkthrough, I'm still working on it, but hopefully it helps:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/166yYzBLztdJjoAdXFQrsHttu7wtVDqnGcqNfl1lZaL0/...

Spoilers:

The only exceptions are the Secret signs that need to point to the intersections of both signs to create hidden pathways.

(1 edit) (+1)

Thanks :) The walkthrough is really good and helpful, too. It didn't mention the thread in the parents' room though. It's in the sewing kit. You can use it instead of the ribbon.

(1 edit)

I'll be sure to add it!
Edit: Turns out, the Red Thread is more than optional, it's exclusive! If you have the Red Thread, you can't collect the Red Ribbon and vice versa!

(2 edits)

I got a different code from the prisoner, so it's probably random. Also, the injured bunny still runs.

(+1)

Thank you so much i was literally stuck on this for like an hour

Ayy, it's no problem, I'm glad I could help!

(+1)

Just finished playing Paper Lily and I absolutely loved it!

First 2D game of the kind I’ve played and it is one of the favourite games I’ve played for a extremely long time.

5 hours 25 minutes well spent.

Great work Devs! I’ll be waiting for Chapter2!

(+1)

Thank you! Happy to hear that :D

(+2)

Just finished binging both Project Kat and Paper lily and I have to say, I'm extremely impressed. The art is gorgous, the puzzles interesting, and the story so far has me intrigued. I appreciate that puzzles have multiple solutions making the game somewhat non-linear. I really look forward to future chapters, and on behalf of the indie-gaming loving community I'd kindly ask you to monitize them as your hard work sofar deserves to be rewarded with something more tangible than praise.

I do wish there was a walkthrough or some sort of guide to this game as there are a lot of secrets, and there are some which I wasn't quite able to figure out just by myself. For example, I'm not sure where the key you obtain from opening the locked box in the bedroom is meant to used. I also agree with some of the other comments that the spike mini-game, painting chase, and Miss. Knive bossfight have somewhat jarring difficulty spikes. I'd suggest maybe also adding an option to skip the painting chase as I believe the ability to skip the spikes/bossfight remedy this issue.

Otherwise, thank you so much for the time and effort you undoubedly put into this game. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and look forward to your future work.

Holy, I REALLY love this game, not gonna lie. I look forward to the rest of it, It's been a while since I got this attached to a game (precisely since midnight train's development) and I gotta say, best of luck to the devs, I'm here to support you in any way possible!!

I really wanna leave some thoughts on the game though. I did NOT expect a "demo" to be this long, frankly speaking, I didn't read anything when I downloaded the game and thought it will be over when I enter the bus. But this was a lot more and genuinely surprised me in a positive way.

Even though I did the survey I kind of really wanna leave some more thoughts here!

Lacie is definitely my favorite character, might be self reflection but I adore her so much. My favorite area (visually) was definitely her house, I feel like it was just perfect, of course the other areas are also done well! But her home somehow just felt warm, in some RPG maker games there is less attention to homes ex. less decor but I loved the detail in this one.

The miss Knives house and the facility are honestly a lot more hard than the previous two areas though. When I was doing the wheels (?) minigame for the elevator,  I actually did not get the second number 15 wheel and just removed the already existing one, later when I read comments I noticed that there is a second one. It was rather confusing and little leads to what to do, if I didn't see the comment saying a key is in the box pushing room I never would have gotten it. It was not frustrating, but I think I lost a bit of time walking around every room multiple times checking every pixel, haha.

Miss Knives house was slightly less hard, but I gotta say the painting lady chase scene was a pain in the azz, she was catching up so fast no matter what I do, and if at one point she hasn't glitched I never would have finished that part... She just suddenly ran in place at one point? I even stopped to look at it since it was funny but oh well lmao ( If I recall correctly from last night it was at the path of the road where it goes a sharp upside U turn)

And I need to address the Rune and Miss Knives minigames... It felt like every split second matters and I was on the edge for sure lol I ended up giving up on both as they were just too hard for my neurodivergent mind to handle. I've thought about it this morning, maybe adding a game difficulty at the start of the playthrough would be a good idea, and the easier level would slow the spikes/knives down a little and add at least an extra second for the slower players to react. Just a thought, although if you just leave the skip button in the final game it would be okay too.

Nevertheless I have no other thoughts that stand out. I adore the details in this game overall, you did such a good job and sometimes I would just sit Lacie down and let the OST play in my room while I do whatever. Really comforting. No matter when the next chapter/update comes, I'm all here for playing it. Frequent dev updates would be amazing though, good luck to the devs and I'm sure this will do amazing, even better than Project Kat!

Forgot to share my   playthrough (not like anyone asked lol)

This is game is all what I expected it to be! Fire so far.

(+7)
BRO, I CANT-

there is a box outside, use it.

r/whooosh

hi idk if this was a glitch or not but i cant find the other fuses dose anyone know how to help or do i need to do something else

Which one are you looking for

One of the tags seem wrong: "RPG Maker"

The file structure certainly is not from any RPG Maker version from XP all the way to MZ.

FINALLY OMG

9/10 game looks great I personily like tha style of the game and the stoty line just perfect. So you ask why 9/10 it's simple    Short I realy want the rest of the story. When it's on the steam I must play again and sorry for the bad english^3

I just want to say that the game is great and I will wait for chapter 2 :3

When are you releasing this on Steam? I wishlisted it!

Also can't wait for this! In the last devlog (6 days ago) they mentioned it was gonna take at least two weeks to fix the majority of bugs and glitches in order to release the game on Steam, so we wait

(+1)

This game is fantastic!! I'm on the edge of my seat - I can't wait to see what else happens! There are so many mysteries, and so many curious courses of action to take - I have to admit, I was devastated when I lost some items between sections. I was fully prepared to feed a plant a fish, lol

Also, aha! I spy a fellow Yomagawari fan! I'm delighted to see it - I feel like they're severely underappreciated games.

Also also, I have randomly fallen in love with Candle-san, apropos of nothing. They inspire me! I want to make a character of my own based on them!

In any case, thanks for making this, and I look forward to more!

Project kat was great! Can't wait to play this
