So i just completed ch1 and it's really impressive thank you guys for your efforts

I really loved almost 99% of the game; the music, the characters, the story and the list goes on everything thing was so good that i stopped studying for exams

Anyways will we see ch2 next year or we have to wait more ? I'm so excited to know more about the story

(Excuse my grammar if there were any mistakes eng isn't my first language but i had to thank u for this masterpiece)

what's the 1% you didn't like ?

sea salt, that all

Wdym Lacie's salt ?

Aaaah there is no such thing as 1% right xD

(+1)

Its soooooo goood!!! These types of gsmes make me want to make my own! May i ask what engine/software you guys use? I know its still in development but, i cant wait for more ^^

(+1)

It's Godot Engine

(+1)

start with unity, c# is a lot easier to mess around

(+2)

Godot Engine has C# too

It was easy for me to use unity with C#

my pc just died rip :(

i cant wait to play the chapter 2

A wonderful game, amazing music, sprites, arts and much more.

(sorry if any errors on my text)

(+1)

I will definitely be paying for chapter 2

(1 edit) (+1)

This game is amazing, but it should REALLY have more savepoints. I just lost like 30 minutes of progressing through the forest and train station areas because I had to go. I hoped it would have autosaved at least once over such a long stretch but it didn't. If there are savepoints in the forest and train station, they should be more noticeable.

(1 edit) (+2)

Too many savepoints reduce the feeling of danger , in other words the more dangerous an area is supposed to be the less save points it should have , and the forest is supposed to feel somewhat dangerous , i think the save points are paced perfectly overall but i see why you would disagree

Not sure if anyone has said this but I noticed something about Sai... Bro was in the bus and he was the one who exited the door in the shop with the ghost child or whatever. I firmly think Sai is Red, he didn't even go through the door back to the human world, and has too much positive vibes in a world that is filled with unknown horrors.

If you like the lore join the paper lily discord , there is a channel where there is often people talking about the lore

One of the best games ever in my opinion. But, is it true that the second chapter will be locked behind a paywall? Please creator! I beg of you to make it free please!

(+1)

It's taking the 2 devs years and years of work to make this masterpiece , it takes an insane amount of effort and dedication to make something like this plus they invested money in assets , JP translation , UI, Music.

It's only fair that ch2 is paid

GodDDAMIT this shit ROCKS

One of the best Games I played in a while. I heard Chapter2 will be paid, and I've made up my mind, this is the second game I'll ever pay for. Or maybe the third depending if Deltarune3&4 releases before this.

I'll be waiting, and I really think you guys can do this!

Yo! Check out my latest upload on my Channel, Last part of my series gameplay/playthrough called Paper Llily - Chapter 1. Hope you like it and consider subscribe!

this game is underrated !!

(+1)

No sabía que aquí estaba este juego, lo jugué por steam. Mi juego favorito sin duda alguna :) es de los primeros que jugué, trama muy interesante y arte hermoso, espero con ansias el capitulo 2 :D

Great game

(+6)

Why is this game so underrated?😭😭

(+1)

right , it doesn't make any sense , it should be the most popular game ever made , however the market is often irrational and inefficient , eventually it will blow up as the greatest game ever

Real, can't wait for the fandom to insanely blow up lol

(+2)

Jusy wanna say amazing work i love the game sm have an amazing day! :3

I really liked the different ways to get further ahead, also the skip funktion, because some battles are pretty hard, i may have ha a little bit too less health. Somehow i always manage to go the right way first, even if i try to go elsewere xD Like with getting all the water away with the Bucket... Info say you removed several thing, i am kinda conflicted what expect further. Is the first chapter complete or not? I still dont really see the full story here, it seems rather unfinished for Lacys Charakter. But maybe i missed all the good story parts. Since i just returned home after clearing the Story of the Burned Lady.

(1 edit)

ideally there will be 4 more chapters so the feeling of "unfinished" that you are getting is intentional most likely.

"Info say you removed several things" : info from ?

My opinion on the thematic purpose of the first chapter is the following  :

Lacie starts on the edge between suicide and finding a cure , of course the game ends with Lacie finding something to live for , this is shown with Sai's connection to the "to do list before you die" , essentially he proposes a modification from Suicide to Life and Lacie i think accepts this in the form of a date.

I freaking adore some of this game. The metaphors in the art and gameplay about her anxiety are *chef's kiss.* Some of the ritual I didn't really get. I also apparently got a bad ending, even though I think I did everything? Anyway, great experience overall!

A wonderful and utterly amazing game, chock full of easter eggs and charm.  This game might as well be the epitome of passion in a game, the golden standard for indie games.  And for FREE???  This is a miracle.  A MIRACLE, I TELL YOU!

And dare I say, this game has some genius gameplay design philosophy, where curiosity is both rewarded and punished, after all...curiosity, kills the Kat.

This game also has really good writing for a free indie game, one most certainly intriguing introduction that really reels you in with questions from the beginning.  The puzzles are fun, but there's also alternate ways to complete some of them, which again, ties with the whole idea of "curiosity".  The premise of completing rituals and the supernatural is also really well executed, because the whole appeal of the supernatural is its enigmatic nature that is at its core.  To further solidify my point, take a show like "Jujutsu Kaisen".  In theory, it's a show on the supernatural, but at a certain point, the shift of the story goes from "spooky ghosts with lots of intrigue", to your basic, superpowered shounen, where power creep and the plot ultimately take away that cryptic and occult feel, it no longer feels like exorcising ghosts and feels more like just battling people with cool powers.  Paper Lily isn't like that.  Sure, it sure is odd comparing games to shows, but the focus on the keeping some of the secrets still veiled is a very nice touch.  The humour is also quite stellar, giving a nice break between the scary sections, very lighthearted and comedic for a psychological horror.  Speaking of horror, this game excels at it, serving as a nice bridge for inexperienced newbies (like me) in the genre, as it doesn't play with too many jumpscares, but instead, it fills you with a certain dread and paranoia, as well as using disturbing imagery and a teeny tiny bit of gore.  Plus, just like any other pixelated indie game, there's a lot of flavor text, which is always a plus.  And the artstyle, oh the ARTSTYLE is so, so cozy, the mix of the pixelated overworld and visual novel style character models and cutscenes is a classic, but it WORKS!!  The ambient soundtrack is so immersive and so addicting, it fits the game perfectly, either reserved to enhance the chill vibes, or for intensifying the scares, and I just absolutely wish, YEARN, for the soundtrack to be on Spotify (waaahhh, I'm sad).  And each character is, unsuprisingly, incredibly lovable.  Not to mention, because of the multiple endings, achievements, and second chapter (coming soon), you can milk this game for hours on end.  I only have five hours on it right now, but it's completely and utterly excellent.

11/10

I enjoyed reading this review very much :D

Best game I played in so long, would recommend it to my friends. It sure deserves more attention tbh!

Looking forward for chapter 2 :D

(+3)

One of the best games i've played; would recommend

Part 6. The story really goes hype up. Check it out. Hope you like it
(+3)

This game changed my life guys trust

(+2)

yeah fr, when after playing it first time. I really got a feeling of mundane or nostalgia something like that

(+1)

i have literally no words for how amazing this game is, not just for the story but for the designs, arts, soundtrack, characters, gameplay, puzzles, plots, every little detail and of course the absolute cinema story we have.

on the last scenes i was just walking around trying to delay the fact that the game had to end, its really really REALLY difficult for a game to have my attention a 100% but i would play this game again and again with no problems, my mission now is to put all of my friends to play this piece of art

cant wait for the chapter 2 cause i want to breathe every single information of this game :3

伙计,我完全喜欢这个游戏,但已经等了很久了第二章......

(+1)

Amazing game!! 10/10 would recommend! Lovely artstyle, music and story. What got to me most was the vibes of this game. It was unnerving, but simultaneously soothing as well.

(+1)

And rune was adorable

Made an account just to comment. Man, what an experience. I read the chapter 1 on the games title and assumed it would be a short play, I'm so glad that wasn't the case. Reading that it was made by only two people is incredible! The amount of effort put into this is astounding. From something as small like the little niche details that some people think wouldn't even matter, completely elevates the experience of how the game is played. There wasn't a character I didn't end up caring for. Also, shoutout to the art and music creators. Kudos to everyone, cannot wait to play the next one. Thank you again!!

(1 edit)

i remember playing this right when it was released. amazing game, but i got lost in the forest way too easily so i don't really remember anything other than that.

i might pick it up again since i have a more stable pc (and in hopes that im not as dumb as before) (❁´◡`❁)
